Vegan Chef In France is the creation of Julie Askew, PhD.
Julie graduated from the Chef's Training Program at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York. She has also completed raw vegan training with Matthew Kenney Cuisine and baked at Champs Vegan Bakery in Brooklyn, New York.
Julie's passion for food stems from growing up with a Chef for a father and spending too many hours hanging around restaurant kitchens. Her journey to plant based cuisine started in the early 1980s when she became vegetarian and bought the first of too many veggie cookery books. Since then she has trained as a health coach, a chef and started a food blog for plant based families at The Real Food Kids. She has had recipes featured in The New York Times and currently lives in rural France where she grows her own veggies and is proof that you can eat a health supportive and beautiful plant based diet anywhere! As a former university professor, Julie has taught classes ranging in size from one on one to 400, and continues her love for teaching today through Vegan Chef In France.
Julie is also a psychotherapist, a Reiki practitioner, an Agony Aunt, and a Mum.
